Picture a gorgeous trike bike, paired with a vintage style umbrella and a beautifully arranged set of flowers in the bike basket. It was an image Gunn thought up after her own wedding experience. She got married interstate in 2024 and had the urge to have an ice cream or gelato cart at her wedding. Who wouldn’t want the sweet taste of ice cream after you say ‘I do’? But even with three weeks of notice Gunn found she could not secure any sort of ice cream or gelato vendor for her day. Upon returning to Yarra Valley she did her own research into any sort of service which provides this and found nothing. She was shocked. But with this shock came the inspiration to bring the Yarra Valley Gelato Cart to life. The Yarra Velley area is the prime place for weddings, boosting beautiful landscapes, venues and florists, and now home to Gunn and her aesthetically stunning gelato cart. It’s more than just a wow factor for a wedding; the gelato cart comes with the ability to have customable flavours telling the love story of the just married couple. Think rose infused gelato because a partner proposed in a love heart shaped bed of roses, or chocolate gelato because the couple had their first date over hot chocolate. It’s more than the basic grazing board you see at weddings, it’s a dessert with a personality.

How does the cart fit into the wedding world?
The gelato cart is an interactive wedding experience which creates pure childlike joy for every guest. People line up, discuss the flavours and chat about the gorgeous ceremony they just witnessed. As it’s such a unique experience, many, of course, snap a pic of the yummy gelato from a bike to savour the memory of a loved one’s wedding … and hopefully the taste.

There are also flavour trends that arise given the season. For example, at summer weddings Gunn sees people wanting lighter flavours, such as fruit-based gelato, but the flavour of the past year has been pistachio! No matter the season, the couple or the area, pistachio is a hot choice. It takes one simple phone call to get the process of seeing the cart at your own wedding. Gunn truly follows the wants and needs of the couple. Her aim is to be as hands on or hands off as they would like. Within the first phone call, Gunn will discuss the vision. The vision of how you want your wedding to look and feel, how it’s coming along including guests, venue and timing of gelato service. The most exciting part is the customisable options, from flavours to look. After the shared excitement, a quote would be sent out and from there you’re booked. By working together with Gunn a menu is crafted. To ensure the experience is personalised and the cart at your wedding is truly to your taste (just like the flavours) there’s the option to have customer stickers, chose the colour of the neon sign and floral arrangements. Now one thing to note is six weeks before the wedding Gunn will have a final consultation to run everything by you or your team to ensure the vision is perfectly matching. Then Gunn is handing out gelato and making everyone at the wedding giddy with joy. Any sort of venue background works. This is because the cart fits all aesthetics. The basket on the back of the bike means your florist can tie in the flower theme into the gelato cart creating a seamless blend. Then the neutral colours of the cart means the colour of your neon sign stands out, another way to blend aesthetics.
Create those wedding memories
A recent wedding The Yarra Valley Cart was present at was a lovely garden wedding. They served gelato as a cocktail hour between the ceremony and the reception, and the garden slowly filled with personalised cups of gelato. A wedding should reflect the couple’s story and who they are together, but also, it’s a day to celebrate and have fun with all your loved ones and friends who’ve come to share in the celebration.
